About Hapworth

Hi! I’m Elizabeth Downing. You may know me as Liz. I’m a seasoned marketer with a decade of experience marketing for e-commerce solution providers who have an ICP of sellers and brand owners. My superpowers are making lasting connections, helping develop innovative and ROI-resultant solutions, and planning memorable events.

About the name…I did my thesis on JD Salinger, a problematic but talented author best known for the 1951 novel The Catcher in the Rye. My thesis wasn’t about Catcher, but I learned a whole lot about JD Salinger in my studies. The last story Salinger ever published was called “Hapworth 16, 1924.” That story took up almost the whole June 19, 1965 issue of The New Yorker. While Salinger thought it was the best thing he ever wrote, critics didn’t like it a bit, saying that Salinger abandoned his fans in favor of service to his characters. So many service providers in the e-commerce space (and other industries as well) get caught up so completely in their own narrative that they forget what their audience wants to see, read, and hear. Hapworth represents a cautionary tale, plus I thought it sounded cool
